I just dont get it!!

been round to my friends house and just met Dudley! He is a very scruffy looking black and white cat who apparently now spends all day in my friends house going home at night (she thinks!).
Im loosing count now but I think that must be 14-15 cats who all live (indoors, outdoors, residents and lodgers!!) in her teeny, tiny 2 bed house. I thought cats didnt like to share resources and would move away from areas with high populations? Yet everytime I go around another stray or latchkey cat has invited itself into her home!!
It was fascinating watching the feeding process tonight though as sachets, trays, tins and biscuits were put in bowls and placed in various places around the house and garden!

Can someone explain why these cats are doing the oppisite of what they are supposed to though???

Re: I just dont get it!!

As long as the cats are being cared for I suppose it doesn't matter how many cats someone has. There's a lady down the bottom of my road who has 16 cats. She lives in a council house but I didn't think the council would allow that many? She is the preverbial crazy cat lady. When she found out that I took on a stray back in July she came here with some tins of food and a pink cat collar for Fluffy! I think she just loves cats!

Re: I just dont get it!!

Oh, they are all flea treated and wormed and as soon as the strays are confirmed as such they are neutered too.
I think they have the odd hissy fit moment but the cats are quite adept at keeping out of each others way if they dont get on. She really doesnt have problems with fighting or house soiling (except one poor girl who is on her last legs).
Its just interesting to me that the cats stick around and are happy to move into a territory with an already high population. They must know a good thing when they see it!! Her house really looks like a pet shop show room and the cats have every toy and bed you can imagine!!LOL

You're only allowed one cat and one dog,my friend has two cats and they only allowed that because they are indoor cats and they dont have a dog

I wonder how this lady gets away with it then . Maybe they are in and out all the time so when the council do their checking (if they do that) then on the days they do there is only one or two cats present. The rest outside.

Some landlords may specify only one cat and one dog, but Treacle was rescued from a council house with 11 cats in... the RSPCA are aware and did not seek to remove any, despite poor conditions...

I think it is mainly private landlords that place restrictions on the number of pets (strange really, since people who earn money should be financially capable of caring for more...)!!
