Still on kitten dry food, when to change?

Hi all, freddy and maisie are approaching 6 months of age now, bot have been fed uptil now on royal canin kitten dry food, they have always eaten it no problems and also drink water without fuss.

now, freddy appears to be growing at a rapid rate (chunky monkey!) and he appears to constantly be hungry, even when the food has been topped up

do i keep them on kitten food? or do i switch to something different now?

any help is much appreciates

Kitten food is a gimmick and a swizz - get him/ them onto a high quality wet food (adult) and you will be doing them a real favour, especially the boy.

It sounds like the food is not enough for the boy. A high mest content wet food such as Animonda or Smilla may fill his tummy better.

Re: Still on kitten dry food, when to change?

wel, you'll need it during the change over - so dont worry, or if you have enough left you could donate it to a rescue place, they'll be v grateful!

good wet food - others can advise you on zooplus bulk orders

if you want to try small amounts - natures menu and hi life are good. my local pet shop sells them in individual pouches as well as 12 packs - try yours?

cats can be really fussy - mine didnt like applaws or almo nature salmon, also from pet shop

so i'd try small amounts first.

Re: Still on kitten dry food, when to change?

I ordered the following all:

Mixed Savings Pack Animonda Carny Adult 12 x 400 g - Combination with Beef & Poultry

Applaws Selection Cat Food 6 x 70 g - Chicken selection

Bozita Canned Food 6 x 410 g - Chicken

looking forward to seeing how they find them

on a sidenote is it ok to feed the cats PURE cooked chicken breast sometimes or not a good idea? same with ham, they go crazy for the stuff!

Are there guidelines to how much a kitten/cat should weigh at what age? Freddy is now 5 months, and i weighed him last night and he scales in at 11lbs 2oz

Good choices!
Make sure you introduce very gradually, you may still get some runny bums but should be ok, its normal.
I don't know about the weights, I would be guided by the vet and if they are growing plus happy and healthy I wouldn't get too hung up on weights.

Re: Still on kitten dry food, when to change?

I agree, excellent choices in your order. Lucky furbabies!

I feed mine Animonda Carny 400g tins and the Bozita 410g tins, and they all took to it right away, no complaints at all. And no runny bums, so fingers crossed for your two !

Re: Still on kitten dry food, when to change?

Chicken cooked or raw is fine - check the ham hasn't got added salts or sugars.
