Buying a Pedigree for first time - plus update on lovely Tigger.
Hi all,
I have not been on here much for a little while since I sadly had to rehome my ginger tabby, Tigger, due to my sons allergy to him.
I am not going to go over the ins and outs of it, you can find those in the old threads. It was a really upsetting time. Tigger now lives with a lovely lady and her cat down our street. He was in a bit of a state when I got him, after only 2 weeks he was looking great. Now healthy, happy and neutered hurrah! I am so releived he has settled so well. It was heartbreaking to have to let him go.
My 2 year old boy spends one day a week at my parents house with their 2 cats and 1 day a week at my hubbies parents house with their 2 and has no reaction at all to them, he also see’s my friends cat and is just fine with them too. It was quite certainly Tigger who was causing the reaction before so I find it strange that with these other cats he is fine. I have recently visited a breeder who has BSH’s, I have spent an afternoon there with my son and he had no reaction at all, even when being trampled by kittens hehe. So… I have decided to find a BSH kitten to join our family. This lady has non available though so have been looking for reputable breeders nearby.
Obviously I am responsible and I know how important it is to monitor kittens and children. This is important to me to ensure kitty is happy and safe.
I have always adored colour pointed cats so I am thinking a colour pointed BSH boy may be the way to go. I have found one who is 13 weeks and ready to leave on Tuesday. I have not visited him yet and if I do of course I plan to take my son with me to ensure all is ok. He is GCCF reg. She said he will be on non active register which of course is fine for me. His father is a GCCF champion, which is nice lol. All the usual, wormed, vaccinated, health checked, change over food, 4 weeks ins all the usual. I am going to read the “buying a kitten” sticky now but if you have any advice on what to look for when buying a pedigree that would be great.
I have never had a pedigree before and he is quite expensive (I think so) so I need to make sure I know what to look for or questions to ask.
