Heartsore today

This morning, as I was driving out, the newspaper seller (who knows I am a cat person) ran up to me and said that someone had dumped a cat in the rubbish bin at the side of the road. In shock, thinking that it was one of my ferals, I stopped and found a large beautiful ginger boy dumped inthe bin like a piece of trash. It was obvious he had been run over by a car. I couldn't bear to leave him there, so I took him to the vet for scanning and cremation. He was not microchipped and had no collar. I also left a notice at the vet that I had found him. I hope whoever owns him sees my notice so that at least they know what happened to him. I just feel so sad, he was someone's baby I would hate for that to happen to my kitties. I came into work all tearful. My boss thinks I am crazy. Well, at least I know you guys would understand.

Re: Heartsore today

That's so awful, you poor thing.
Well done for doing the right thing by the poor lad.
What a shame he was not microchipped.
It will be very hard for his owners, if he has any, to find out what has happened to him.

Try not to be too upset. This is your very good deed for the day!

Re: Heartsore today

I found a dead cat in my garden last winter. I think it was feral & froze to death, he was so tiny. I felt so guilty as had I known I would have left one of the garages open with some blankets. We took his body to the vets just in case he was chipped but he wasn't.

Good on you for taking the poor cat to the vets. At least if his owners ring round they can find out what happened.

Horrible start to your day though

Bless you for doing such a decent thing. All of us appreciate you doing such a thing and would want to give you a hug.

Just hope he didn't suffer.
