Question Cats Best Oko Plus

Hi,

Just a quick question about the Oko Plus cat litter..

When we first got Charlie we were using Pura Clumping Moonlight Ultra scented cat litter. We have never had a problem with it. But I have decided to change it after a month or so to the most recommended (based on threads on here and reviews on Zooplus) litter which was Cats Best Oko Plus.
I bought 30kg of Oko Plus for the price of 20kg of Pura, which was just under £20. I was very pleased with that.. Also some of the reviews said that litter tray wont have to be changed as often and odour will get "reduced".
Well.. We received it, perfectly packed, I started mixing it up with the old litter, cat got used to that and I have to say.. that Im not as impressed as I was hoping to be Wees clumps pretty well but poops just stay dry and smelly! Litter doesnt cover the poops, which means it doesnt mask the smell.
Previous litter used to cover poops completely (as it was more like a sandy texture) and cos it was scented it didnt smell as much (maybe for the first 10 sec when poop was being done :P ) because Charlie just covered everything with the litter..
Can someone give me any advice regarding Oko Plus? Am I doing something wrong? Id like to add that Charlie is indoor only cat so his litter tray is the only place he does his business.

Re: Cats Best Oko Plus

How deep are you filling the tray hun? We put about 7.5lt in our normal sized trays and 12.5lt in the jumbo ones. This makes it about 7-8cm deep I think, the recommended on the pack is 5cm deep but we fill it more so it doesn't have to be topped up for a good few weeks.

Re: Cats Best Oko Plus

I am a recent convert to OKO plus litter and I have no problems with "smell" at all.I think I am on the 7th week of using it and 2 weeks into the first complete change of litter.Meeko buries his poop and there is no smell after the first 30 secs or so.I think, apart from some tracking it is the best move I've made re litter.I fill trays to the recommended 5 cm and find that to be deep enough.

i think oko plus is too expensive,
i use breeder choice, its non clumping but it doesnt smell at all!

It may be more expensive to buy on a bag for bag comparison but considering it last 6-8 weeks maybe longer, it works out much cheaper in the long run.
buffie and kaz25 like this.
