Question Squeak the Biter

Not quite as glamorous as Edward the Confessor or Robert the Bruce...but Squeak the Biter is our noble warrior. He is one year old and at times in the day (invariably early morning and in the night) he will start to bite us. Now sometimes maybe we mither him and we deserve it and others, it is toe biting at night or claws under the covers but this can be at 2 or 3 in the morning. Is this a sign that he needs fed or he needs out? At the moment we tend to leave a small downstairs window open to let him out play as otherwise we would never get a nights sleep. But why else would he be aggressive at night. I get up and feed him and he can go out if he pleases. Is he just playing? As I have written this he has just come along and bitten my ankle. Is he saying now.... Get off the iPad and give ME some attention. Any cat psychologists out there???
