Are Ragdolls and Ragamuffins similar?

Just wondered?I'd love a ragdoll, but they are quite expensive (rightly so IMO ) Ragamuffins seem to be not quite as highly priced, I wondered if they have similar characteristics?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Are Ragdolls and Ragamuffins similar?

If they are properly registered RagaMuffins they will actually be dearer (around £500). If you are looking at the £175 ones on Pets@Home they may or may not be RagaMuffins - the breeder certainly isn't one of the few registered breeders with the Official RagaMuffin Club that is affiliated to the GCCF. They aren't registered and she shouldn't be breeding them - I've no idea if she has had her cats tested for HCM and PDK.

Have a look at the links on my website especially the UKRMCS.

Personality wise RagaMuffins are wonderful - my Coda is so special. So cuddly and full of personality, and very floppy.

Ahhh I see. The ones advertised on p4h are very local to me and as there's no others on there I didn't have any others to compare them to price wise.

I've just read up some more about them on the Internet. .

They do sound adorable.

Re: Are Ragdolls and Ragamuffins similar?

Ragdoll are around £375-450, from fully health tested parents HCM/PKD/FIV/FELV, well reared, full vac, neutered, paperwork etc, so you get what you pay for, the ones that arent regged ARE NOT health tested, so for the sake of 'saving' £100, you still need to vac them and live with the fact they may end up ill you actually end up spending more! Crazy but true!

Please ignore any raggamuffin adverts, if they arent registered they arent raggamuffins, I know the only breeders in the UK and they start at £500 + and advert with no papers = moggie, your better of going tothe local rescue than supporting these peoples pockets and bad breeding.

The raggamuffin was formed when some people decided that they wanted more choice in the raggie breed, some people werent happy so they broke away and created the raggamuffin, it still has to be the same 'type' as a raggie and same tempreament but you can have any pattern/colour. Ragdolls are seal/blue/red/chocolate/lilac/cream all in colourpoint only, or mitted, or bi-colour (then 4 serperate bi colour patterns wont go into that!) along with the tortie / lynx & torbie pattern, again only on the points. raggamuffins are basically solids, but can produce CPs Hope this helps a bit!

Difference between RagDoll & RagaMuffins?

Ragdoll vs Ragamuffin

Re: Are Ragdolls and Ragamuffins similar?

RagaMuffins come in solids and 3 different types of points - sepia, mink and full colour point - though full colour points can't be shown.

But yes, if you don't belong to the UKRMSC and aren't a registered breeder then you really aren't breeding proper RagaMuffin - it really would be worth (if you wanted a RagaMuffin) going through the club and choosing a registered breeder.

Re: Are Ragdolls and Ragamuffins similar?

Thanks for all the info.

Think I'll pass on the ones close to me and save my pennies up for a properly bred and health tested one.

Thanks again x

We call them Muffins so they don't get confused with Raggies.
