new kitty update

right, here is how it stands now

the new male kitty is home now, he was riddled with flea dirt his bum was very stinky. he has slighty runny poo's.

what origonally made me worried was the inconsistencies with what the lady was saying about the worming and fleaing.

when i told her i had been vet and it cost me £26 pound she assured me she had been to the vet and flead him but clearly not.

i tried to get the other one but she wouldnt let me, but my friend has messaged too and the lady is messaging her tomorrow so fingers crossed.

well after all that, the new boy has settled in instantly he is playing with everything lol. lexie isnt too happy but is tolerating him, if he comes near her she growls and hisses, he runs to another room she goes off looking for him so i think they will be fine in a day or two. he really wants to play with her but she dont want to just yet. she has started going nearer to him but growling.

will they be ok? if they still like this at my bedtime shall i put new kitty in front room with everything he needs? and let lexie have run of house like usual? i normally shut the living room door at bedtime anyway so lexie wont miss it.

xxx

Re: new kitty update

To be honest I would have kept the kittens apart until they had both been vaccinated, unless you have seen the paperwork to show this has been done for him. If he has fleas, (or worse) Lexi might catch something.

Best to keep them separate until you have had him checked over by your vet.

He is lovely - hope you get the other one too.

Re: new kitty update

personally if he has been vaccinated then i don't see the why you should. It sounds like the poor guy came from a terrible breeder. My dads JRT came much like this terrible fleas, worms and chronic runs this could all be bad food, or not enough or even giving too much human food and lack of care and they normally need flea and worm treatment at 6 weeks

Re: new kitty update

we kept ours seperate whilst we werent around to supervise but tbh this was mainly due to seeing a little one who had lost an eye at the vets due to a spat over food so we decided to air on the side of safety to start with they are all ok now though suppose its every ones pref really as all cats are different good luck by the way your kitten is lovely what a stunner

Re: new kitty update

neither of my kittens have had vacs yet, its not health im thinking im thinking cos lexie isnt too happy about him just yet

he didnt come from a breeder it was pet owner who had bought him and another kitten 2 weeks ago but now says shes going abroad for a while. gosh knows what shes on with but i have him now so he's in good hands.

here is the two of them now getting closer, although lexie was still growling/ hissing a little bit

xx

Re: new kitty update

well for the first night keep him in the lounge but obviously you can go check on him and then let them have the day together and you will find things develop throughout the day, i let the fosters on their first night (last night) come up and down to me but they were hissing and growling but there was no physical contact between them so i wasn't worried but caution is always good
