Vets.

Given recent discussions regarding Out of Hours vet care that we have had, I just thought I would pass on the following:

Most of you are probably sick of me raving on about how great I believe my current vets to be in relation to their charges, their opening hours and their level of care.

Well, I was disappointed when I found out that their OOH care went to Vets Now who are not generally considered to be the best. I advised them that I wasn't happy about this when I made my enquiring phone call.

Yesterday, I was at the vet with McGee and ended up seeing the vet I had spoken with on the phone. She remembered our conversation () and THEN told me that I was perfectly entitled to be registered with another vet for the purposes of OOH emergencies and merely to inform the OOH vets who my primary vets were and they would happily send over any notes required.

I have to confess to being like "WOW!!!!!! They have no problem with me being registered with more than one vet.......... "

When I told her that I had already taken this action she was pleased and said that it is important that we are comfortable with the vets looking after our babies.

In my opinion, this is a sign of a vets practise who really DO care about their customers and their furry clients. Every time I go, they really do just go higher and higher in my estimation.

Sorry..... was that me banging on again about my wonderful vets....

Re: Vets.

This is how vets SHOULD be. Isn't it sad that we, as clients, are grateful when they act in the way that they should.

Glad your vet is OK about it though, as there would be nothing worse than a stroppy vet when you are trying to get your pet cared for.

My MIL thought it was sad that I already know which vet the Furbies will be registered with when we move, but I hadn't looked into a new doctors practice for us lowly humans

Ha! My MIL wouldn't expect anything OTHER than that set-up from me!!!!

I just thought that it was highly comendable that they're first concern is to the pets and NOT the kick-back they would get from Vets Now for the referral. The result of this is that I will continue to advise people to use their services and hopefully they'll make more money from my WOM recommendations than they would from referral fees.

Re: Vets.

That is fantastic MB! I'm really pleased that your vets put the pets needs first.

After recent threads I have spoken to my vet and asked who covered their out of hours service and when they told me they did it themselves I was really pleased as I really like my vets and they have taken such good care of Jaffe. I didn't want to have to face changing or finding a secondary vets as not many of them are very good around here.

Re: Vets.

Glad you've got such a good vet MB though it's a shame they don't do their own OOH cover Mine do and my my vet is sooo lovely too I have to count to make sure I have all the kittens when we go for jabs - he's likely to slip one in his pocket when I'm not looking

That is the only downside but they ARE open 7 days a week, including bank holidays, and are open until 8pm every night except Sundays which is 4pm so the OOH cover required is much less than most others.
