Re: how to introduce kittens

theres a bit of a debate on this, personally i do the following
1. Make sure the cats are put in a room when you bring kitten home otherwise you will freak the resident kitty out
2. Leave the kittens in their carrier so the other/s can have a good sniff, there will prob be some hisses but no worries its normal
3. keep just the newbies in a room with you let them have a good sniff, then one by one let the others in, if you are worried about them having a little tat put them on a lead so you can pull them back if they get naughty.
4. sit back and watch closely making sure to give resident kitty loads of fuss and love and the kittens love too but MAKE sure the resident is getting loads of fuss
5. for the first night i suggest leaving them in the lounge with everything they need then the next day i bring them to my bedroom with me in it for a couple of hours letting the others get used to them and letting them sniff everything out

TYhis has worked for me 5 times now

Re: how to introduce kittens

yeah you could but relax it a bit i got 3 kittens only weeks apart separately lol so i did do this but if they were ready for more sooner i let them, trust your instincts and watch the kittens behaviour some are ready within an hour for play time lol

Re: how to introduce kittens

i think see how it goes i used a separate litter for a day or two but it all depends on them if you show the newbie the litter she/he may be up for going in it, mine had big hooded litter trays so thats why i used a temp on for the first bit but one of mine kami found the big boy litter tray all by herself on the second day lol

It's always worth having a spare tray in case you need to isolate a cat in the event of illness so I would suggest you get a second tray anyway.

I'd put it out and then see what happens as they become friends. I had one tray for 2 cats and they both used it without any problems.
raggie doll likes this.
