Unhappy Not eating

The kittens wont eat

Its all food/flavours they have had before. AC and Bozita. They are climbing my legs when I am dishing it up, as soon as it is on the floor they sniff it, scrape the floor with their feet and walk off.

Willow will eat a bit but not as much as before.

I resorted to boiling up chicken and rice for them Saturday which they wolfed down so its not like they feel ill and cant eat (is it?) - they just wont eat.

Yesterday i tried Bozita again - Rowan and Willow ate it but Holly wouldnt - I had some chicken and rice left so put her on the worktop with a plate of that and she scoffed for ages.

I have resorted to putting kitten milk down this morning just so Holly gets something other than water inside her. She definitely drinks more than the other two and I thought the milk might be better than water as she wont eat the food. They have the fountain down so always water available as well.

There is also a bowl of Applaws/Orijen down all the time, which Holly used to favour, but she doesnt even seem to be eating that now.

They still have loads of energy, chasing each other round, playing etc for ages - but this hunger strike is staring to worry me now

Oh, they will also also eat mince or chicken raw - but thats not a viable option at the moment because I dont have the freezer space to order in and store enough to keep 3 cats going on a regular basis.

Any ideas?

Re: Not eating

It is frustrating when you have this situation. I cant help really but what I do sometimes when mine turn away is put small amount of dry food on top of their wet food and they are happy to eat all up.

Re: Not eating

EXACTLY like Treacle!! He does the whole getting excited, then just sniffing it and scraping the floor thing - that means they want to 'save it for later'!! In the wild, cats scratch earth and leaves over their food to preserve it until they're ready. We had to cook chicken for Treacle yesterday too. But quite often, the handful of dry food on top will get him to eat up! I think he's more picky when he's teething and his teeth are playing up. He'll have a day or 2 like that, then scoff 3 meals in one evening... like last night!!!!

Re: Not eating

Hi ive been greeted by the same response lately

I have 1 kitten who is approx 5 months and mum. They make so much fuss first thing in the morning to be fed, ( I feed a mixture of raw and wet food) when I put the wet food down I get the same rush up to it, and then they look at me as if to say where's the raw!

Ive learnt to put the food down and walk away, you would be suprised how they eat it when they think they cant bend me around their little finger. The food gets eaten over a couple of hours or so, then later in the day they can have a litte bit of raw.

They are a worry when they wont eat but while they are still bright and happy try not to worry too much

If you look back onto some of my other threads you will see ive had months of worry with a fussy feeder but think im getting there now

Re: Not eating

I think I am worrying more about Holly - Rowan is eating bits now and then, but Holly doesnt seem to eat any at all.

With her being diagnosed with a heart murmur at her first jabs a week ago I am worrying more about her

Re: Not eating

OM is right there being fussy sometimes they just start disliking something as well, especially when they are growing. Mine are weird about some of the better food they don't like it
