Re: Watery eyes and sneezing
Very common in feral and farm cats or where there are a lot of cats living in the same house - also pet shop bought kittens as they have usually come from back yard breeders. Deffinitly cat flu, they do get over it just like any other virus, but they can get flare ups later in life if they get stressed or ill, all my ferals have had it at some point or other, I would take to the vets to get some eye drops and if it is bad enough they may give you some anti biotics, but as it is a virus you can only treat the symptoms. Just good food, de-worm and de-flea to make sure everything else is fine and she'll perk up quickly!

Re: Watery eyes and sneezing
[COPIED ANSWER FROM YOUR OTHER THREAD - BUT EDITED IN LINE WITH THIS THREAD WHICH WAS VIEWED AFTERWARDS]
Do you have a health check up booked at your Vet's? It is a good idea to always get your own vet to check over a new kitten, so you get to know your vet and they know you. Also, that way you can ask them any issues regarding health and general cat care - such as cleaning teeth, clipping claws etc. Please bear in mind that kittens health deteriorate quickly so I would book the check up today to check Leo's health just to reassure you. If he is eating, drinking and toileting OK, and is playful not lethargic, then I am sure he will be fine, but he still needs checking. |

Quote:
When I got Misi from a (really nice) pet shop in Portugal, she was a rescued street cat and no sooner had I got her home when she started sneezing. She had cat 'flu and it took ages for it to go. I am talking about 18 years ago now, though... maybe treatments are more effective now... Anyway, she did eventually shake it off, but at times of stress has had flare-ups for the whole of her life. She's managed to make it this far, however. You might find Leo shakes it off and that's it. A trip to the vet should clarify the situation for you. Sorry he's poorly ![]()

Re: Watery eyes and sneezing
Treacle had FCV before I got him (Calicivirus). He had recovered, but the vet noticed the small ulcers on his tongue. FCV is less severe than FRV, hope it's not too severe x
