Re: Indoor to Outdoor

rather that catsan (expensive, not that great) get a bag of Oko/Chick Crumb or super clumping silicate/clay like Professional Classic Cat Litter with Odour Neutraliser - Great deals at zooplus

they are pricier to buy but last ages and low low odour so actually use less and spend less

Re: Indoor to Outdoor

I hate clay based litters, even the clumping ones. The clumps crumble so easily you end up removing loads of litter and it stinks too!

Definitely recommend OKO. One fill of the tray should last 4-6 weeks Need to fill it quite deep though - about 4 inches.

Re: Indoor to Outdoor

It took me long enough to bite the bullet, but after loads of great reviews I changed to this Clumping Oko Plus Cat Litter 10ltr by Cat's Best | Pets at Home .It seems dear at first when you see the size of the bag but I have just (last week)changed the litter in the tray and used the last 5 litres of this ,I reckon that the 10 litre bag will have lasted 11/12 weeks by the time this last refill needs changed.Works out around 70 pence a week for litter(one fairly large tray),no smells,no waste ,a bit of tracking but I can live with that

Re: Indoor to Outdoor

Does anyone know of any good deals on oko at the moment - or is zoo plus still the best value source?

As far as I'm aware zooplus is the best. Think it's on offer on there at the moment too

Re: Indoor to Outdoor

I have read that a good way to train them to go to the toilet outside is to create a toilet area in the garden, so it is like an extra large litter tray and they go in the same place each time. Dig a patch so the dirt is loose and to start with mix a bit of their soiled cat litter into it to show them it's the new toilet. Obviously when they start using it you will need to clean the poo away regularly and keep it dug so the soil is loose.

I have not tried this as my kitten is too young to go out yet but i will be doing this when she is a bit older.
