Can Cats like fireworks?

Stupid question of the day..... but I had assumed that all cats would hate them, I know they have different personalities but just assumed the noise would scare them. Our village had its firework display lastnight and Merlot seemed to thoroughly enjoy it, the first one went off and she was straight to the windowsil in our bedroom for a front row view, she seemed calm and looked like she really enjoyed the display..... all that worry for nothing

Re: Can Cats like fireworks?

Indy and Gypsy seem to like them (Gypsy tries to 'catch' them on the glass) Loki is fascinated by them and Mabel ignores them

Re: Can Cats like fireworks?

My cat does not seem bothered about him, but he's an old fella! The important thing for ANY cat , or other petowner for that matter I think over this period is to ensure that their animals ARE inside!

Re: Can Cats like fireworks?

None of my cats have been fussed about fireworks. Misi's now deaf so it isn't an issue, but on the couple of occasions we've had fireworks near us (not as common here as in the UK), Simba (Mr. Nervous SPOOK!!!) has totally ignored them. He likes to watch thunderstorms with me, too!

Re: Can Cats like fireworks?

I never thought about mine liking fireworks - thinking about it though they are a little bit obsessed with those flashing lights on burglar alarms (nightmare when I take them for harness walks at night!) so it will be interesting to see what they think of them.

Re: Can Cats like fireworks?

my cat is only about 7months old, this is his first fireworks season, and although there havent been many going off round here whtn they do go off he seems to quite enjoy them, racing to the window to have a look. Hasnt displayed any fear at all, but then again he hasnt shown any fear since i got him. He's more fight than flight.

Re: Can Cats like fireworks?

My boys show a vague interest in them if they can see them through the window - they'll watch for a little while before they get bored. Otherwise they pay no attention at all, they're certainly not bothered by the noise.
