Question Insurance...

I want to get insurance set up for Hugo and I think I am pretty sure I want to go for Pet Plan.

On their website when you put in all the details to get your quote, there is a question asking whether or not the cat is neutered. Obvioulsy he will be neutered at 6 months, but he won't be when we get him as he will be a baby still... I'm not sure what to put for this!

I did ring them and the lady was very friendly but the language barrier made it a bit difficult and I don't really think she understood what I meant, I was also trying to ask about whether you can choose what you want the excess to be and she didn't really seem to understand that either.

Has anyone using Pet Plan (or any insurance company for that matter) had to make a claim and if so how did they find it?

I definitely want to get ongoing lifetime cover for a condition so are there any other policies comparable to the Pet Plan one?

I am going to look on an insurance comparison website but not every insurance company is on there and I thought it would be good to get people's personal opinions/experiences as the last thing I want is for something horrible to happen and then to have a problem with the insurance company.

Thanks

By the way, Hugo is not with us yet - we are picking him up on 19th November when he will be 13 weeks

Re: Insurance...

I clicked no when I did Gloworm's Policy, I had to claim for him recently (treatmet and death from injury) the treatment claim was submitted on the 19th October and closed the same day, paid out 162, got £40 back (cost of cremation wasn't covered) then put in a claim for the purchase price, that was received by them on the 13th October and closed on the 21st October, service was amazing, and I wouldn't go with anyone else.

Re: Insurance...

I'm with pet protect lifetime cover! I just had to claim for when Oscar was run over in June and I couldn't fault them at all! If I were to say anything I'd just say that the £5000 cover wasn't enough but other than that no complaints at all

Re: Insurance...

I have chosen to insure the youffs with the top level of the Argos Pet Insurance as I felt that most of what was on offer was the same as Pet Plan but for less of the cost.

However, as was pointed out to me - they do stress it is a ANNUAL policy that allows you to pay in instalments. This means that if kitty is no longer with you on month 3 of a new yearly installment plan, they expect you to cough up the full value of the policy for the year.

Having four cats on the go at the moment, Pet Plan was just too much to pay.

You may find the info on my website (see below) helpful. All the insurers there are 'vetted' to make sure that they are ethical - that is they pay out without problems. However, you MUST read the policy before deciding as it's very easy to assume you are covered for something you are not.

If you want to compare against Petplan then you need to look for 'Lifelong' insurance - some companies claim 'lifetime' but, as is the case with Sainsburys they really mean 'per condition'. My site will show you what they really offer
