Re: Took Salem in for his castrate
Awww, poor guy. And poor you--I'm sure you were all mentally prepared for the waiting game while he was at the vet's.
If it's any comfort, we had Blake and Chaucer done a little over 2 weeks back. Although the vet had checked them twice, and determined there were 4 descended testicles between the two of them, there were only 3 on the day of surgery. After they had put Blake under, the nurse was shaving him and found he only had one down. They called me to ask what I wanted them to do, but we were driving home and I didn't get the phone (it's illegal here to use the phone on the road, so I leave it silent). They went ahead and opened him up, found the hiding testicle and removed it. It was an extra $85, which pretty much doubled the cost of his neuter.
He was a terribly miserable baby when he got home--he just looked sad and uncomfortable and didn't purr all night. Then, sometime around 5am, he hopped on our bed, snuggled up and started purring, the sweet little baby . He was about 75% normal the next day, and pretty much himself the day after.
So, if Salem's little ball doesn't want to come out to play, it's not so horrible. It's basically like a spay. Nobody said anything about it being super dangerous--it was just more for him to go through, since the other one was where it belonged. And it amazes me how the just bounce right back. If that were me, I'd be moaning on the couch, gobbling pain pills and crying!
