Re: boys v girls
It's impossible to say, it all depends on individual cats nature plus to a degree how they have been brought up and socialised. As a sweeping generalisation I have personally found females to have a tendancy to be more highly strung and independant and males to be more laid back but obviously there will be many many exceptions.
In my opinion if it's a lap cat she's after than the best bet would be to speak to the breeder about the nature of the individual kittens. |

I'd go with the breeders experience as they have been around them since they were born and will give an honest opinion. |

Re: boys v girls
It really depends on their personalities I think!
![]() In my own limited experience of having a boy and a girl from the same litter... My girl is a bit more standoffish and less willing to be picked up. She's less curious than the boy and doesn't run as fast, but she usually follows her brother around. She chirrups a LOT and is extremely talkative. She has learnt her name and learnt the "sit" command for treats. She comes across as very intelligent. Despite being a bit more standoffish, she is the one who will climb onto my tummy or chest when I'm lying down, and "flop" (usually resulting in me getting a mouthful of fur as she likes to lie down close to my face) and purr very loudly. I love having "conversations" with her. When we're playing, she is the one who likes to sit and watch, usually... then make a last minute dash and grab for the toy. She is sneaky! I love watching her set up ambushes on the stairs, where she lies flat and then jumps out at her brother when he's least expecting it. He's always surprised! Whereas when she is "ambushed" by him, she's just like "Whatever..."My boy is definitely more curious. He always follows me around and wants to be where I am, usually reaching my destination before I do. He only ever "talks" when he can't find his sister or when I'm preparing food. He doesn't respond to his name and shows no interest in learning it. He is greedy! He jumps up for treats, though with patience he will respond to the "sit" command if he sees his sister do it correctly first time. He is VERY openly affectionate and comes and rubs himself all over my legs and feet when he hasn't seen me in a while. Sometimes I just have to stand there and let him roll over (he actually lies on his back and wriggles on top of my feet ) while he purrs. He climbs onto my lap a lot when I'm occupied with other stuff, e.g. typing at the computer. He's definitely an attention-seeker, much more so than his sister. He doesn't come across as quite as "complex" as his sister - she is a sneaky little minx, whereas he wears his heart on his sleeve! But how many of these traits are down to the sex of the cat, and how many are down to their individual personalities? I really don't know. ![]()

Re: boys v girls
If she wants a cuddly lap cat then a Bengal probably isn't the way forward.
