We were talking about getting Leo and Susie "done" and explained the reasons to him ie there are too many unwanted kittens, its better for their health long term if they don't have kittens and Leo will be less likely to get into fights and wonder off for miles looking for females to mate with etc etc then he pipes up that if everyone gets their cats neutered then how will they ever reproduce? and if that happened then eventually cats will become extinct

My husband said "You know what he's right".

Potentially, yes I suppose he is right. Or there will just be pedigree breeds. I think we are a long way from something like that happening though.

I think there are too many irresponsible people around for cats to become extinct, however if everyone did neuter then it would be possible

I'm sure there will never be a time when everyone neuters their cats. There are too many ...how can I put this politely......ok, I can't.....uncaring, thick and thoughtless people for that to ever happen.

I have to say this thought had crossed my mind a couple of times but I think there will always be some people breeding cats whether it be in a good or bad way.
