Re: How do your cats react to other cat sounds?

Meek doesnt seem to care about ordinary meowing or chirruping but gets a bit upset by fighting or scared cat sounds. He comes over as being a big brave bully but it is all talk, he is just a big wimp

Re: How do your cats react to other cat sounds?

I've got the app on my phone and when I went to bed last night Porridge and Haggis were scrapping at the end of the bed. I played it and they immediately stopped and both came up to me wondering what the miaowing was. I then played the purring one a few times and Porridge became very smoochy and cuddled right into me and fell asleep - very cute!

Re: How do your cats react to other cat sounds?

I have a plush cat with a meow sound, and the cats are very curious when they hear it.
They also want to see all youtube filmw with meowing cats. Some of them do get a bit upset at hearing a film of a scared or angry cat.

Re: How do your cats react to other cat sounds?

I've played a few youtube videos previously and then I realised both of my boys were looking around the flat for the other cat
They are used to seeing other cats that visit our backyard and seem very keen to play with them.

I once played a video from here of the two bengals that had been traumatised by a fox and were undergoing behavioural therapy. The first video (with an angry/scared meow) really stressed my boys out so I felt terrible for not thinking of them first. Once they had calmed down I played some nice bird and squirrel videos so they could enjoy those

Re: How do your cats react to other cat sounds?

I've played YouTube vids to Seb and his ears twitch and he starts looking around for the cat, if he's sitting on my lap, he will look behind the laptop screen for the cat

If Frank hears cats outside he will venture out the cat flap, he likes other felines

I'm going to download the app now
