Arrow Seamus MRI Scan

Hi everyone,

I'm really scared as my eldest cat Seamus (11) is having an MRI scan tomorrow. He developed a twitch a week and a half ago. He was also shaking though the shaking seems to have stopped.

Back in July we had a cancer scare with him when he started sneezing a lot and eventually his nose started bleeding. The vets put him under anaesthetic and put a camera up his nose. He found a purple growth which he though was cancer but they took a biopsy and couldn't find anything cancerous.

Well now he's developed the twitching - his paws and head - and the vet think that the growth has grown and is pushing on his brain. So we're going all the way up to Bristol tomorrow, leaving at 6:30am for an appointment at Langford Vetinary Services at 10am. He'll have an hours consultation and then an MRI scan and he'll have to stay over night at the hospital so we've booked ourselves a B&B close by. We live in Swansea so it's only around 2 hours drive away but we want to go slowly and have plenty of time to stop if we need to as we don't know how well Seamus will travel. The longest car journey he's had is 45mins.

We're taking a baby buggy with us which his carry box fits nicely in so that we can wheel him in and out as it'll be smoother, less scary for him and if he's groggy or in pain then it'll be better for him than being carried which is wobbly as he's a heavy boy. He suffers from anxiety also so hopefully the smoothness of being pushed rather than hefted about might help him in that way.

Well that's it for now I think. I will update as regularly as I can here on this thread.

Wish us luck, I'm so scared!

Re: Seamus MRI Scan

Did the vets mention anything about the growth being a polyp? These are common in the nasal areas.

Hope all goes well tomorrow.
