A Question for those of you who use a harness ...

... on your kitties

When you first put one on is it normal for your kitty to walk around backwards and look totally traumatised?

I've just finished putting the first harness together to add to our product line and tried it on Tinks

Mind she's never worn a collar never mind a harness, so I'm presuming it's normal?

Erm - Willow looked at me and jumped straight up the steps to the front door - obviously I have a very intelligent kitty - mind you havent tried it on the babies yet, I got a feeling Rowan will walk backwards, turn round in circles and roll all over the floor
Just from first observations of their personalities you understand

Also meant to say I hope your design has better 'fixings' than P@H!
They have these tiny little plastic clips to squeeze to get it off, and its very fiddly and difficult - especially on fluffy cats - will be watching the classifieds pages with anticipation

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Sounds about right! Jaffe did that and then rolled around on his back for a bit. Second time was much easier.

Mine do this if they ever have to wear a buster collar - I think they'd react the same to a harness, anything alien to them

Simba's quite a harness veteran, but still sometimes walks backwards hoping to get out of his bondage gear!

Someone described it as walking like Captain Jack Sparrow

Totally normal - it doesn't take them long to forget about doing the wobbly legged pirate impressions once they realise they are getting a walk somewhere interesting though!

Re: A Question for those of you who use a harness ...

When I first put a harness on Sam, he just sat and looked very pleased with himself. (Since then, I've discovered he likes wearing things - anything from a ribbon tied round his neck to an adapted dog coat I knitted for him - and always sits up very tall and proud if you put "clothes" on him.)

Milly was completely the opposite, and I had to give up with harness training because she spent the whole time she was wearing it huddled on the floor looking terrified, even though I had no trouble getting it on her. I tried a few times too, in the hope she'd get used to it, but eventually accepted it wasn't going to work.

We haven't tried to harness train Eva. If you approach her with a collar, she turns from a sweet natured little cat into a demon that consists entirely of claws and teeth, so we value our hands too much!
