I have grown up believing cats dislike having their bellysback legs touched or stroked and my mums cat did not, which reinforced this.

But my two cats are nuts for a belly rub. All four feet in air, head back and purring away as you stoke their tummys, legs and feet. Even opening their toes to have their feet tickled.

Is this strange for a cat? Does your cat like a belly rub aswell???

Sam & Lucky love having a belly rub but our kitten Gizmo hates it. I haven't tried giving Gizmo another belly rub after him curling himself around my hand and biting hard and with all claws out as well. Was slightly painful

I was always told not to touch a cats tummy. Jaffe however likes his chest to be tickled and prefers you to rub his belly with your foot rather than your hand. If you rub his tummy with your hand he thinks it's time to play fight He also likes his feet being tickled when he's sleepy.

I forgot that not all cats like this and went to do it to my sisters cat and nearly lost my foot. oops

Max is the least keen, Fudge loves it, as do Bola and Stripey Tail but with these two it always seems to end up as a invite to playfight with my hand and they can get rough..........not that this puts me off any

Out of the 9 cats that I have/had only one has enjoyed a tummy rub. Thats Tibbi the latest addition to the family and like OPs cats she lays completely on her back with all 4 feet in the air although she does look rather 'spaced' out while doing so.

Frankie doesn't but Seb loves it

My mums old cat liked it but then got a bit rough with claws and teeth

Merlin accepts a belly rub when he feels like, if he isn´t in the mood you have to be fast removing your hand.

Oscar doesnt mind one stroke on his belly but anymore than that and its asking for trouble, which ofcourse i always do lol, and then he gets nasty
