Yucky Kitty!

I brought my new furbaby home yesterday, on the journey home she had a bad case of the runny poo's in her pet carrier.

The lady said she had fed her just before i arrived so i expected the lil one to leave me a present....but this was ALOT of poop!

I tried to get the most of it off her but i didnt want to upset her as she was so scared, i used tissue and water, Her fur is all stuck together ( she is not long haired but its still not cool to have a matted tail!!)

And she smells of poop still....any advise on what i can do....?

thanks

Re: Yucky Kitty!

Hi & Welcome
Gove her a bath in some mild kitten shampoo, if you have nothing at hand a tiny bit of fairy liquid works in emergencies. Make sure you rinse her well. Wrap her in a towel and rub her dry as you can, then use another dry towel and do the same. If she'll let you, which I doubt the hairdryer on low is good to finish drying. If not put her in a carrier with dry towels and keep her in a warm room. I never feed my cats/kittens before they are travelling. Can't belive the woman did it to be honest.

Re: Yucky Kitty!

Had another thought. If she won't tolerate the washing. Baby wipes are very good at cleaning smelly kittens, lol. Then towel dry. Also baby powder sprinkled on rubbed in and brushed off makes them smell nice

Re: Yucky Kitty!

if your kitten is caked in poo then yep wash her in kitten shampoo, but if its only her back end then you could just wash her there and dry her off,

Re: Yucky Kitty!

i did use a babywipe then stopped as i am new to kittens and i know they 'lick clean themselfs' and i thought it wouldnt be good for her!! lol

I know, i cant belive it when i turned up and she said ' ohh she just been fed and had wind' whats that all abouttt!!!

I was gonna dip her bum in some warm water and wipe with a flannel ( one for the cat not me!! lol ) but i was scared about that as it was really cold and i didnt want the poor thing freezing.... also...my cat has her bed neer the fire but she wouldnt go near it...might just be new home blues but she was hiding in the coldest part of the room =[

Re: Yucky Kitty!

Ahhh, bless her. When you've washed her, put her in her basket on some towels, nr the fire til she's dry, not too close though. My cats quite often find cold places to lie, lol.
