Off to volunteer at my local RSPCA tomorrow!

Earlier in the year we moved and have been commuting to London till we found work nearer home. Friday was my last day in work and in two weeks I start my new job but I have two weeks off! So I asked if I could help out at the RSPCA where we got Cleo. Just playing with the cats and cleaning their trays but I cannot wait! I am really looking forward to it

My OH did say I could do it on the condition that there were NO CATS BROUGHT HOME! I understand that Seriously three is my limit but I can help those less fortunate cats in anyway I will be happy. Once I have got myself sorted in my new role then I hope to do an evening a week!

Re: Off to volunteer at my local RSPCA tomorrow!

well I know that I will fall for them all.

I have been chatting a lot of the facebook page and melt at the pics and the stories But Cleo still needs settling as she is very nervous and has the odd accident, Three is enough in a house our size.

I need to put them first not my needs (or WANTS!). I think if it had been before Cleo I would have struggled to just volunteer but now I feel I am just going to do my bit rather than going to view how can join the family next!

I plan on giving those that want it more cuddles than they can deal with (And it will allow me to continue to lecture Ella and Archie that they really do not know how lucky they are and need to appreciate me more!!!)

You will have a great time. My friends and I go once a month and we spend the whole day cleaning, scooping, changing waters and they are always so happy to see us. They arenīt in cages so we can play with them (except new ones or those that are a bit problematic). Whenever I go there I always feel that Merlin is so lucky.

Re: Off to volunteer at my local RSPCA tomorrow!

Yes I agree. Well these are in cages - they have a lot of vounteers but more love to these cats can't but help! Plus even tho it is the "RSPCA" they receive no support from the main RSPCA.

I have got a big bag of biscuits and 48 pouches hidden in the car, plus some toys. It all fell into the trolley as I was buying my monthly shop for mine at Pets at home

Re: Off to volunteer at my local RSPCA tomorrow!

Good for you. I try to take wet food too as they have more dry. My shelter has no help except from members and the president accepts all the cats she finds and are abandoned. That is why we plan to build another shelter to help. I always feel sad when I go there, each time we go into a new room they are all over us, except the really shy ones or some that have been badly treated.
