Talking Boys are back from boarding

I picked my two up from boarding on Wednesday last week and I'm feeling a lot better about boarding them now They board with their breeder, and have been twice before.

Last time I made the mistake of taking them somewhere else as it was only a night. Bloo was OK but Freckle was clearly miserable and was in a terrible mood for a few days after. The time before with their breeder, Bloo came back and had trouble with the litter tray. So you can imagine my trepidation at leaving them for a week now they are toilet trained...

But I came back from NY and they were both happy to see me, sad to be leaving boarding and have been really good about using the toilet The breeder has a little girl who is about 2 years old, and apparently she spent most of the week playing with the boys and their toys and picking them up and 'carrying' (maybe a little dragging) them around. We always say she is welcome to play with them as we'd like them used to small children

Took some fresh catmint down as well and they gave some to their three-legged rescue cat (tripod lol) and it made him a heck of a lot friendlier!
What's more, Freckle, who normally doesn't like being picked up or sitting on your lap, is quite cuddly and even lets me carry him like a baby and if I put him on my lap he stays for quite some time!!!
They are going back for three weeks after Christmas and now I'm not feeling quite so guilty...

Any one else had their cat turn into a little snuggle monster after spending some time with a little kid?

Re: Boys are back from boarding

Love your names for your furbabies...........

You are very lucky to be able to leave your babies with the breeder, what peace of mind that must give you. I bet the breeder enjoys seeing them to.

My loulou will not speak to me after being in a cattery..................... it takes all kinds of treats to win her round.... now I have a house full of pets I have some-one in to house/pet sit..................

Loulou will go to children but no way will she let them pick her up..... however Libby my kitten will go to anyone for a cuddle including my step daughter who is 7.

This sounds a little harsh, but when my niece grabbed one of my pets by the fur a few years ago, she was 5 by the way, I pulled my niece's hair a little and said " how does that feel" She has never forgotten it and is so gentle now. I believe if children are taught how to handle a cat/pet and to be gentle then cats will go to them unafraid............ my loulou was slightly man handled by a friends daughter which explains why loulou is reluctant now.
So your babies must have enjoyed their holiday.

Hope you found NY good.

Re: Boys are back from boarding

We went away in Sept, mum and dad cat sat for us, popping over twice a day and spending some time wiith them. This is what we had when the cases came out

Next time we go away mum and dad are coming with us, so its their first time in a cattery. Both were rescue cats from cp, so im not looking forward to it, i dont want them to think we have deserted them, have got 'their blankets with smells on' to take with them
GreyHare and ewelsh like this.
