squidgy poos help !?

Why does Gucci suddenly have squidgy poos ? I took her to the vets for a spot on her head which turned out to be a scab, which the vet pulled off and is now better. But whilst I was there I mentioned the fact that her poos were semi formed. But they vet just said if there is blood in it, its time to worry.

She has been on Animonda kitten pate and science plan kitten dry food, and it hasnt changed. She's fine in every other way, and has a lovely soft shiny coat. I thought she was stressed as we had the painter in, but now hes gone the poos are no better..She goes outside a bit as she is 4 and a half months old but under supervision. Her poos are getting worse and watery today. Just wonder if any one has any suggestions ?

Re: squidgy poos help !?

Hi, I am no expert but I would try changing Gucci food to see if this makes any difference. Other than that I dont know what to suggest. I hope Gucci poos are better soon. Good luck in what you decide.

Re: squidgy poos help !?

Thanks, I was thinking of doing that.. is it possible that being on the same food for sometime can upset thier tummies ? i'm very new to cat ownership, and it seems to me that thier tums get upset by the slightiest thing !?

You could try her on some plain boiled chicken for 2-3 days as that often calms things down, or try Pro-Kolin https://www.medicanimal.com/search;j...o%2520kolin&q=
which contains probiotics and gut-soothing clay.

Re: squidgy poos help !?

my first thought would be to take her off the food she is on and just fast her for a while (like is suggested when going to the vets for sedation or on a long car journey) and then give her boiled rice and chicken for a couple of days and see if the poo firms up. She might just still be stressed from the painter and she will settle down. Then you can start to reintroduce her normal food or change it if you think it will help. I'm not sure it would be her food that would give her a squiffy tummy if you haven't changed her diet. However, it may not be helping if she has a squiffy tummy due to something else.

I'm surprised that the Vet was not more reassuring. I know when Jaffe has an upset tummy he was given a once over just to check he was ok. It might be worth speaking to another vet if you are still worried and it isn't getting any better.

I hope you figure out what it is and Gucci feels better soon

Thanks for your replies, will change her food over gradually first and see if that helps, I have some bozita in the cupboard., and do the boiled chicken and rice and pro kolin as a last resort. The vet did check her over for worms, but she seemed to think it was the painter upsetting her.. will keep you informed

Poor baby try some fresh chicken or beef and boiled rice. Just boil a bit of fresh chicken and put a tea spoonful of rice in it do the same with the beef that should sort out the runny poos.

If the poos are runny you should introduce boil rice and chicken straight away and don't give her any tins food until her runny poos stop that's what the rspca told me to do I had a kitten that constantly had runny poos.
