Christmas trees and cats

It's going to be my first Xmas with cats for over 30 years, and I am more than a little worried about having an Xmas tree with my two cats (not to mention our 8 month old GSD).

So should I keep the cats out of the front room while I am away, or dare to chance they will leave the tree alone?

Nina, you'd be a very deluded slave if you left it to chance imoImagine an 8mth old gsd and your cats and the lot of em looking around for mischief they can be getting into and spotting a lovely, well thought out decorated xmas tree and then they think "Better not,mum said no" and trotting along to "play" with something else...exactlyMore likely they'd absolutely destroy it and lay the blame on your puppy

Sorry to say I don't think there's much chance of it being left alone!!! Two cats and a puppy? Too much temptation there I think

After careful consideration I think you are all right. An 8 month old 6 stone GSD and my two cats - no chance. Oh and you are SO right about blaming poor Luika. Melody is a little terror, and always points the finger of blame at Ed (my other cat), or poor Luika

Re: Christmas trees and cats

Way too risky to leave them to it I think!
Our dog never bothered with the tree, one cat only took a passing interest, but the other cat found it a great source of fun at night! Every morning I had to play " hunt the baubbles" and usually found up to 5 hidden under furniture and in corners!
