come for a moan

I have come for a moan and it's not cat related I'm sorry!

Some of you may know me as the lady who rescued a kitten called Libby. You may also remember I had a puppy around the same time who really disrupted my house but I love her very much.

My moan is about the dog forum, I admit I have been out of my debths with the problems I have had with my puppy intro to my other dogs and I have bought books galore even bought in a professional dog trainer in but everyday something happens and I had no idea how to deal with it, dispited having dogs and puppies all my life.

I have been told by a certain lady on the dog forum twice now! to " buy a good puppy book" and she even told me, dogs do not know that you want to get back to watching the tele or what ever it is you do!!!! ( I have no idea where that even came from) I am totally shocked by this woman.

Will someone please confirm what these forums are for! I believed they were to ask other people who may have professional experience or have personal experience of certain problems... People who care enough to try to offer help.

I have never found anyone on the cat forum to be so rude infact everyone one the cat forum is a delight and so lovely... even if they do not have the answers people wish well............... I honestly feel too affraid to post on that board now.

There moan over form a rather cross and upset animal lover.

Re: come for a moan

Oh, it can be just as bad here - especially on certain subjects - but I have to say to don't often visit there either (I have a mad BC) - I found it just that much more 'dogmatic' (lol) - pinch of salt is what you need.

Re: come for a moan

You get good and bad on any forum you go on, even I have had people in the past totally against me on this very forum but I couldn't really care what others think of me, many would have stopped posting I didn't though, I stayed and showed them who I really am and what I am trying to do, many of the people who thought bad of me now understand me and what I do and even tell others to contact me and my organisation for help. The point is that you have to stick up for yourself, if you haven't done anything wrong and you know your a good person then it doesn't really matter what other people think. Its the people that really know you that count in my opinion, not people that don't know you and judge you by what you write on a forum.
Its probably not a good idea coming over here to slag off someone else on another part of the forum as you are very likely to get that person coming over here and the war will start over here, which would only bring the forum down

Re: come for a moan

Unfortunately that's internet forums for you. The cat section can be the same, depending on the subject. You just need to soak up the good advise you get and ignore the rest of it.

Re: come for a moan

I think the forum, or any forum for that matter is just like real life. You will get people who will help gladly, people who will not judge, but by the same token you will get people who will judge you and who have very strong opinions and will offer those opinions and think that they are right....even if they may not be.

Like life you will have personality clashes, I think you just have to try and not take things too personally. Its very difficult to gadge someone's mood or their tone in typed form and things can be misconstrued very easily.

i know what you mean there seem to be a few that just enjoy putting you down, i think all you can do is ignore them, to be honest there doesn't seem to be so much drama in the general chat area. I have been told that there are many who have left due to meanness or what they perceived (quite rightly so) as nastiness. But luckily there are many happy to help and chat so the best advice is to not even entertain their attitude and ask someone else.
