Can anyone please help me .. My 11 year old active cat has started pooing beside our toilet on average once a week .. always during the night for seemingly no apparent reason. He's otherwise a healthy, happy cat so not sure why he's suddenly started doing this.

Could you put a litter tray in the toilet? if you have an upstairs make sure you have a litter tray both up stairs and down as older cats find it difficult to get to their litter tray sometimes.

Could he have possibly gone blind or deaf?? I know our old cat started to wee and pooh in the house the vet told me she was deaf and blind so confused about where she was doing it

Could just be down to old age, and becoming a little confused.

I concur - an additional litter tray may resolve the issue.
