Pet plan..dental check yearly?

I know with pet plan cats need to have a dental check yearly to meet the policy requirements, but what does that entail. does it count when the vet checks the teeth along with heart at booster time or does it need a seperate appointment just for teeth?

Re: Pet plan..dental check yearly?

I'm afraid I don't know but I thought that it would all be done together. Maybe it is worth giving the vet a ring and ask them? Sorry I couldn't be more help.

Re: Pet plan..dental check yearly?

my vet just writes on the notes each year at vaccinations that they've checked the teeth (and I make sure they write it!!) one of my cats is insured with petplan and he's had dental work done and petplan covered it no problems

Re: Pet plan..dental check yearly?

As far as I'm aware, they do the dental check when they have their boosters.

My Chino is in early stages of kidney failure and recently had a dental for which, supposedly, he is not covered. However, because he has gingivitis caused by acidosis due to his kidney failure, they paid out for his dental. I'm really chuffed!

Re: Pet plan..dental check yearly?

I'm with Petplan and it's always been at booster time for Harry and I assume it will be the same for Oscar and Kitty. As Doolally says just make sure they document that they've done it.

The problem for me is that Harry is only immunised every three years now and, as he's an ex-feral, he goes absolutely fruit loop when trying to get him into the carrier (and then out of it again) and then he disappears when we get home again (longest 3 days ) so I can't justify the upset when he's perfectly well. The vet assures me that everything bar dental will still be covered, hope he's right.

Re: Pet plan..dental check yearly?

Yep definately get them to write on notes, Lilly suffers with gingivitis, and she had an exception on the policy but when i spoke with pp, they told me that if been ok for a year, get vet to write on notes and then let them know and exception will be wiped if no probs in the year.
