A stray's story...

(dont worry, its not a sad one!!).
Its the story of my best friend and Whitely the stray cat. Whitely was always hanging round the neighbourhood from when we both moved here (over 10 years ago). He's a huge all white tom cat with a great big head and was always covered in scars and fresh wounds. Wether that was coz he fought alot or because he was totally deaf and this got him into trouble we dont know but he was a friendly lad with people.
Well, my friend started out by putting food out for him in the garden and giving him fuss, also giving him a nice warm kennel for the winter months. After the years went by and he kept dicing with death on the roads and developing abcesses from his fights she took him to the vets and got him neutered.
After this he became a changed cat!!He now lived in the garden pretty much 24/7 and didnt feel the need to roam, he was happy there. This went on for a while til one day my friends mother decided to let him in the house for his tea......
and the rest is history as they say!!LOL He curled up on the sofa and purred happily. This enormous battle scarred tomcat totally ignored the other 14 cats in the tiny 2 bedroom house and claimed his sofa cushion as his own! He loves to be fussed and cuddled, plays with cat toys as if he was a kitten (looks daft apparently!!LOL) and rarely ever wants to go out (we think he is worried he wont be let back in.).

So enjoy your retirement home Whitely...you deserve it, mate!!

Re: A stray's story...

Aww bless him I do love when older cats play as if they are kittens... the best bits when you catch them and they then turn and look at you with disgust as if to say " do you really think I'd lower myself to play with that?"

Hope he enjoys his retirement

Re: A stray's story...

That's a lovely story made me cry! (wee bit hormonal it would seem) It's so nice to see a story with a happy ending. There never seems to be enough of them.
