Now to my question, has anyone experienced their cat suddenly being afraid of a part of the house? Scamps loves the hall usually but in the last few days he's been petrified of walking through it, when he absolutely has to (which sadly for him is frequently as it leads to every room in the house) he runs full pelt through sticking closely to one wall and is highly disliking leaving a room by himself. It's really really weird! We can't find anything that has obviously spooked him, I'm starting to wonder if he's seen ghost!
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts!

Here are some pics of my gorgeous boy anyway

Re: Hello with a random question!

Ok I take it your hallway leads to the front door?? Does your front door have a letterbox with no basket? if So has the postman shoved something through that's made a noise and frightened him??

Ours shoved a large catalogue through the other week which landed on the floor with a really loud thud and frightened the life outta Alfie..... we very nearly had a BSH lampshade!!!

He now sticks his head round there to keep guard everytime he heres anyone outside...

Re: Hello with a random question!

I was wondering when you would come onto the cat chat!

Hello!! Seems a little odd for Scampi to be scared of anything! When did that start? My first thought would be that it's a smell that has freaked him out or I guess there may have been a cat come through the flap or maybe he's dragged something in that he wished he hadn't? Very random indeed

If you dont find anything around the house and he is still spooked try using Feliway to try and carm him.
Good luck.
Thank you! The cat flap is left open all the time for him, we're in a maisonette so our room opens onto the main hall and I always wake up when I hear scamps come in or a weird noise! That is a great suggestion, but if I remember correctly it is harmful to aquatics and we have a large aquarium and I also have 6 royal pythons so we can't use that in the house unfortunately.

He's beautiful, by the way. I love black cats with white whiskers.
Thanks! I've had a sniff around the door (luckily no neighbours around to spot me! Lol!) I couldn't smell anything out of the ordinary although obviously I'm no scampi! I don't think any of the other cats come close to our house, he seems to move them on pretty quick when they have in the past!

This is possible, it happened the day I had a book delivered that looked like it was shoved through the cat flap... But the door is at the bottom of the stairs and he isn't so bad down there.

Well hello stranger! yeah I've come to infiltrate your forum lands now! Ha!
As you well know, it's possible he's lost a 'present' but usually when he's done that he is forever looking for it where he last saw it and he's not doing that, more just pelting through the hallway to wherever he needs to go. He did it so fast earlier he skidded into the washing machine! Rofl! Idiot! He wasn't hurt so we're allowed to laugh.

I must add though, we gave him some chicken last night and made him come into the hall for that which he did although he didn't seem quite himself even so. It's very odd! I really can't see anything obvious for it at all .

Re: Hello with a random question!

I guess I'm not really equipped to solve this problem either, as my cats just seem to run everywhere anyway lol. Our older cat Morag does do the 'spooked chase' thing as a game though, particularly around mealtimes and especially if she doesn't approve of what she's been fed Any chance he's just playing?
