hyperthyroidism cat passed away from bleed

Has anyone had this awful experience with their hyperthyroid cat bleeding?
My poor Houston passed away on Canadian Thanksgiving Sunday. She was on Tapazole transdermal cream 0.2 ml every 12 hours (started in August). She gradually deteriorated from May of this year to present with weight loss and poor appetite. she took to hiding and avoiding us. this weekend she completely stopped drinking and eating and hid in the basement. We brought her to the emergency where I was told her hematocrit was so low that there was no other choice than to euthanize. Horrible Thanksgiving day we lost her. I cannot get my head around this. Her counts were completely normal in September. The emergency vet thought she might have had a cancer that bled. ?lymphoma. then I read that the Tapazole can cause low platelets and bleeding (then why was it normal is sept?). Perhaps I will never know what happened but would like to know if anyone else has had this happen to their cat? She was my best friend and a brilliant soul. I know it won't change the outcome but wish I knew where things went wrong....
