cat clawing dovet covers etc

hello, im new ere, trying to investigate cat behavior as ... i donno why really!

anyway, the cat in question often sits on the bed on his front with his tail out in a straight line and claws with both front feet one then the other, and his tail twitches a bit,

why do they do this??

cats we had back when i was a kid did it to so guessing its pretty normal!

Its a sign of affection. A little like marking the area to say it belongs to him / her.
My cats do it when they sitting on my knee and on the bed too. Nothing to worry about

Re: cat clawing dovet covers etc

if you watch a kitten feeding from their mum they knead when they are suckling to help the milk flow, if a cat does this when they are older it is beleived its because they feel as safe and loved as when with their mum he is obviously a very much loved kitty

Re: cat clawing dovet covers etc

It is "kneading". older cats do this to get comfortable and when they are content sounds like you have a very happy cat
