Re: Vet receptionists

Deary me I'm Head Nurse in a very big busy vet hospital. We have receptionists so that nurses can be left to nurse, but our receptionists are a vital part of our team.
Every management course i've ever been on has stressed how important first impressions are, and receptionists are the first port of call. Our receptionists are fully trained, and we do have a few younger receptionists, but we would only ever employ polite proactive ones with common sense!

I'm afraid part of my choosing a vet would include the knowledge and helpfulness of reception staff. The receptionists aren't part of my team, they have their own line manager, but I couldn't tolerate non-helpful receptionists, they're vital for the business image!!

Mine are the same, they always know their names!

Re: Vet receptionists

Personally I wouldn't have a problem if the receptionist didn't know something provided they actually went and asked someone who does know and didn't just try to bluff their way through.

To be honest, when I go to the vets tomorrow, I'm just hoping that the staff I deal with can speak at least some english (not always the case) - but will be taking hubby with me just in case. The boys are off for their first jabs, and I want more information on chipping, snipping, worming & flea treatments etc etc.
