Watery eye?

Salem's right eye keeps watering and he keeps getting sleep in it, is there anything I can do until I can get him in the vet's as I think he may need antibiotics??

Re: Watery eye?

I think the only thing you can really do is keep them clean with a damp kitchen towel. Is it an infection or has he got a little cold?

Re: Watery eye?

I think it is an infection as he hasn't been sneezing, and it's only the one eye x

Re: Watery eye?

Have you had a look at his 3rd eyelid? If so is it red or lumpy? Obviously get him to the vet but it sound like you may have the fun and joy of giving him eyedrops

Re: Watery eye?

I usually use a cotton wool ball and soak it with tepid water then pour it onto the eye to flush it out. I dry it afterward and tend to do it a couple of times a day. If there is no improovement after a couple of days I go and see the vet. This for me works in most cases.

Re: Watery eye?

Soak a chamomile tea bag, wring out until not drippy, but still very damp, and sponge with that. It worked when Blake's eye was gunky and watery one night while the vet was closed. He was fine the next morning.
