How much cat stuff do you have in stock?

I came to change the cat litter today and I had a 5 minute panic. I couldn't find the bag of cat litter At first I thought I must have run out of the stuff and all I could think about was what I was going to use as a substitute

Then, suddenly I realised that I had what I call my 'emergency' bag in an upstairs cupboard. Goodness knows how long it has been there - wonder if cat litter has such a thing as a date on it, or does it last forever?

How much stock of things do you have and have you ever run out of anything vital and perhaps couldn't get to the supermarket that day?

Re: How much cat stuff do you have in stock?

I don't tend to 'stock' stuff as I buy a 40l bag of litter! This has lasted a couple of months so far and will do another full change in a few weeks too but will order some more next month.

Food on the other hand.....

I currently have a cupboard full of 24 tins of Smilla, 24 tins of AC and 24 Bozita tetrapacks. All tins are 400g. Minus a few now as got it on Monday. My cupboard is kinda choca! Along with their treats and Benny's treats it's nearly spilling out the door!

I have a pair of gannets on my hands though - they've had a 360g Bozita tetrapack and 400g tin of AC today, bearing in mind I was out between half 8 and 5 and have just left them with half a tin of Smilla between them for supper.

I have a large stock of litter trays though all open ones as I use hooded ones now. I also have a bag of catsan litter that I was given but have never used if I did ever have a real litter emergency!

Re: How much cat stuff do you have in stock?

I dont really stock up on things like cat litter (though always have a small bag as backup) & food, i tend to just buy with the weekly shop but this still means 6 tins, a box of kitten food pouches, a box of adult pouches, a few extra pouches, a box of kitten dry & a box of adult dry not to mention treats. The main thing I have more of than needed is cat beds, I have 5 & honestly none get used as they prefer to either curl up on the settee, the bed or the windowledge

Re: How much cat stuff do you have in stock?

Well I have at least a months worth of wet food (although she has decided today she doesnt like Smilla!) 2 bags of dry food, 3 opened, and 3 unopened boxes of treats, and about 50L of litter, oh and 4 cartons of kitten milk - just your average household I would say

Re: How much cat stuff do you have in stock?

I buy food and litter online, so for practical reasons I keep about 3 months' supply of food and about 1 month's supply of litter.

Re: How much cat stuff do you have in stock?

A human food cupboard is now a dedicated cat food cupboard (wet only, there's not enough room for the dry ) and there's enough to last a month but still I keep topping it up, just in case.
