Re: pet insurance
I agree with Etienne. If you can afford it stay with pet plan. They were really great when I had to make a claim. I have cover for life up £7000 for Jaffe and it is £18 per month. It isn't the cheapest insurance out there but when looking at the fine print in comparison to all the other companies I think they offer much better cover for illness and injury. They did try to sell me cover in the event of Jaffe's death (this was the cost price of the pet) but that was the only thing they tried to push on me. To be honest though they didn't offer anything better on the phone than was available on the website.
I hope that helps in some way ![]()

Re: pet insurance
I pay £23 total a month for both my boys (adding another soon) and I have the £6000 a year lifetime cover.

Re: pet insurance
I think that most vets are happy to claim money straight from pet plan. This is not always the case with other insurance companies. I know someone whose cat needed an operation - and they had to pay the vet direct (nearly £1000 pounds) and then reclaim the money from the insurance company (who surprise surprise weren't in any hurry to reimburse).

Re: pet insurance
I'm also with Petplan apart from Ginger who is with sainsburys. The premiums with PP go up a small amount each year. Sainsburys is underwritten by Axa. I've heard many times that Axa do not want to insure old cats and have put up premiums by a huge amount each year for other peoples older cats. I can't say this from experience though and Ginger isn't going to get to be an old boy as he has lymphoma. Have to say Sainsburys have been excellent with paying out and are proabably quicker than PP. My new boy Loki I've just insured with PP

Re: pet insurance
Im with petprotect and have lifetime cover for 5 grand per year, with a 10% contribution and a £50 excess, at £12 per month i think its very reasonable!!! When Oscar had his accident i couldnt fault them, the only thing i could say was, a i could have done with more than 5 grand ! We used the lot up

Re: pet insurance
We insured Spock with AXA and have had real trouble getting money out of them for his treatment and subsequent death after the accident. I've also had to really fight to get them to STOP taking money from me after I'd informed them that he'd died, they still owe me a refund for that (so to date they have paid out sweet FA).
We went with Petplan because of this for Iccy, reading all your responses I'm thinking we did the right thing!
