Bob the big issue cat!

Hiya

I haven't been here for aaages - we moved offices to a big open plan place and my web browsing has been severely curtailed as a result! I do still lurk about PF though! Anyway I met a very cool cat today and thought I'd share a couple of pics (attached below)

You might have read about him, his name is Bob and he belongs to a Big Issue seller called James. There is more of their story here and here but in a nutshell, an injured Bob turned up on the doorstep of the place James was staying in, after searching around and finding no owner James took him to the RSPCA to get treated. When he finished his antibiotics James assumed he'd go on his way but Bob hung around and a few years later they are still inseparable.

Bob sits on James' bag all day while he sells his mags, usually around Angel tube although I saw him at Covent garden today. He "tells" Bob when he needs the loo :-D Bob wears a harness but the leash isn't attached to anything, it's purely for when they are walking to and from places. To be honest he is more like a little dog, I've never met a cat like him. Plus he looks as healthy as any other cat I've ever met - well fed, shiny thick coat, bright eyes and very content. James clearly adores him and looks after him very well (probably better than he does himself!) and the feeling seems to be mutual. Bob also has a great selection of cat scarves, he was wearing one today and there are lots of them to be seen in this flickr photostream of him!

James has actually written a book about the story of him and Bob, it's not released until March 2012 though.

aw I was so excited to meet him!! My mum was with me at the time, we were on our way to eat out, I think she thinks I'm completely mental!!! :-D

What a heartwarming story and what a wonderful cat I've never seen a cat so unfazed by anything

Re: Bob the big issue cat!

I am pretty sure I saw this guy and his cat recently....the cat was draped across his shoulders and he was standing on the side of a busy road waiting for a bus. I nearly crashed my cat taking a closer look!

Re: Bob the big issue cat!

I read about it in the magazine and thought it was wonderful. What an amazing relationship between the two.

That's adorable, I love the one where he is round James' neck under the umbrella! x
