Re: Best clumping cat litter for odour control?

Was using: Asda (Tiger?)
Currently using: Cats Best Oko

I was split between buying it as it's twice as expensive as the Asda's own stuff.

Tracking:
Yes, it tracks a bit. Asda's did too. I certainly wouldn't say it's any worse.

Life of Litter:
Is very good. Asda's own litter, I'd be using near on 10l every 10-14 days or so. With the Oko stuff, I haven't even needed to top up in the last week. I fill my tray a few inches high with it.

Clumping:
Much better! I don't think the Asda stuff was even clumping. Oko forms wee into small, well, soaked up pieces which is easy to get rid of. Apparently it's bio-degradable so you can flush it down the toilet. I haven't done this and don't plan on doing either.

Smell Control:
Very good. The Asda's own brand is okay, but not great as masking it. Oko is a different smell when you get it out the bag, almost "wooden". It seems to keep that smell and cover other smells very well. Of course, like the other poster said, when the turd is turded immediately there is a smell, but it does fade quite quickly. Depends how good your cats are at burying I guess.

Price:
It's twice as expensive as Asda's own brand.
Oko = 40l for £25 (or so)
Asda = 80l for £25 (or so) (it's actually £2.87 for 10l)

Verdict:
Well, it depends how long the 40l lasts me.
If the 40l can last near on two months (at the moment, it does look like it can), then it will be a winner. The less work cleaning it out and better smell control are all plus marks for Oko.

I am kind of the same.

Oko isn't AMAZING, but it is significantly better. Enough for me to recommend it.
Is it really worth the £25 odd for 40l? Perhaps. Buying Oko in the HUGE 40l bag means less heavy bags carrying it back from Asda (Mr Postman does all the work). It also means I wouldn't have to buy it every week either, so even if it doesn't last the whole two months, the time and effort saved could possibly be worth the extra bit of money.

Lol, no it's a crumbed grain (wheat I think) used to feed chicks. There are branded litters out there which are exactly this.
