All,
I know this subject pops up every now and then and I have contributed in the past, but an incident yesterday made us laugh although the consequences could have been dire if we hadn't stopped it.
Our Alpha male, Ben (7kg of Bengal-X), had been out in the morning, along with the rest of our herd of 6 cats.
My OH, (SWMBO), and I were drinking coffee whilst sat on the settee, when we heard growling. We looked down to see Ben had a grey and white rabbit in his mouth. We quickly relieved him of it and found it was still alive and apparently OK. We put it in a cardboard box and wondered what to do with it and where it came from.
5 mins later, we heard the front door bell go. We discovered our friendly Spanish policeman neighbour (tall, dark, young ( about 30) and handsome - for our lady forum members) standing at the door.
"had we seen his daughter's pet rabbit?"
Evidently, his neighbour had seen Ben go through Miguel's kitchen window and emerge with said rabbit in his mouth !!
We showed him what we had in the cardboard box, and the relief on his face was evident. Thus, Bunnykins was re-united with it's owner.
Having to explain to his daughter that her pet bunny, which is obviously allowed the run of his ground-floor flat, was now a pussy cat's dinner, would have been heart-breaking for the little girl.
Our cats have previous with rabbits, when we lived in the Midlands, near a farm. It was quite natural for them to hunt.
Oh, the joys of owning cats !!
If they come home with a snake, that will be another matter as my OH despises them !!
