Hallo everyone
![]() I'm really enjoying the forum and this is my first post. I've got two very affectionate, five month old, brothers (Popcorn and Crunchie, no laughing please) who snuggle up together, wash each other and play together. My previous two cats were different ages and at best tolerated each other so I'm really loving watching these two getting along so well. They will be neutered soon and I was wondering, if any one with experience of two males, could tell me are they likely to remain friends like this as they grow up? |

Re: Brotherly love?
My two boys are from the same litter, neutered at 4.5 months and now 17 months old. They still do everything together and will often curl up in the same bed and wash each other, and of course there is a lot of wrestling. I'm hoping they will be as close for the rest of their lives and a lot of stories from here suggest there is a good chance

Re: Brotherly love?
My three boys are very close. Leo, the largest, is more aloof and hangs back, but it's quite normal to find the other two curled up together. They all play/fight all the time. They are now 10 1/2 months old, neutered @ 8 months. They are MCs though, so they're special

Re: Brotherly love?
Hi there, what cute names, love it!
![]() We also used to have 2 male cats who weren't the best of friends but did manage to tolerate each other most of the time. And now we have a harmonious crew including 2 brothers who we've had from kittens and are now 18 months old. They are still great buddies but I think they're a bit teenage at the moment as they've become a bit competitive and often have a rough wrestle and a chase followed by a swear and a swipe at each other. Luckily they both adore our new kitten and I think they're competing over him now! One tip I was given when my lads were little was when you get them neutered, do get them done both together on the same day. That way, they will both smell of the vets when they come home, and they'll both be in the same boat. Sometimes if a cat returns from the vet after an op, the other cats at home can be freaked out by the unfamiliar smell and can even treat the returning cat as an intruder. You don't want to risk breaking their close bond. Anyway I took the advice and had them both 'done' on the same day with no problems. And pictures of your babes, please! ![]()

Re: Brotherly love?
Hallo again
![]() Thanks for all the replies. Popcorn and Crunchie are of to the vets to be neutered on Tuesday and I've booked to have them done together as I think thats a really good point about the vet smells etc.... Im going to have a go at posting a picture so hope it works, Popcorn is the darker and Crunchie is the one with more white on him. |

Re: Brotherly love?
I have two Burmese brothers who are now 7 years old. They have remained very close, playing together, washing each other and curling up to sleep together.
My vet had a funny story when my two were neutered. She did one and put him in a crate or whatever to recover, then did the other one. The first one woke as his anaesthetic wore off first, saw his brother fast asleep in the crate next door and yowled the place down. He kept the noise up until the vet and nurses could stand it no longer and got him out and put him in with his brother. He snuggled up to him and went back to sleep and they both slept it off together. |
