Re: Food donation

At the pet stall in my local indoor market is a poster asking for food donations to our local rehoming centre. People either drop unwanted food off or buy a bit extra and donate that.

Re: Food donation

I took almost 100 cans of wet food that Merlin didnīt want and they were extra happy. They even mentioned that one of the sick cats that didnīt eat on her own liked one of the brands I took. They will be very pleased tro get it.

Re: Food donation

All the pet stores and local supermarkets have bins for various rescues where i am, the only trouble i have is that i travel to put donations into the bins for my local rescue as the town i work in is not in their catchment area and i do like it to go rescues in my local area where i live and not where i work.

Re: Food donation

That's a very thoughtful thing to do. I believe both Woking and Guildford Cat Rescue take unwanted food.

Re: Food donation

They sure do hun. I took a wedge of stuff to the rescue when I went to pick up Abby and will be doing so again next week when I up Him-Who-Has-Not-Yet-Been-Named!

They are grateful for just about anything because times are SO hard right now.

Re: Food donation

I've given unopened cat food to the local Cats Protection League charity shop in town. They are most grateful.

I also visited an ASDA a long way from home (we don't have ASDA close to home). They had a big wire basket (almost the size of a dustbin) for people to donate cat food. It was overflowing with all sorts. I felt good about contributing and it was touching to see how much was there.

Re: Food donation

I just spoke to my rescue center about putting up bins in supermarket to collect food here in Spain. She said she was sure that places that had them installed were outside Spain. We donīt think they would even consider it.

Good idea - I will check FB - there is an RSPCA charity shop about 5 mins walk from me, but I think the smaller local rescues struggle a lot more which is why I havent taken it up the road yet
