Special moment

This morning I was laying on the floor combing Shadow, when out of the blue with his claws slightly out he grabbed my head on both sides and dragged me towards him, he then started to lick my forehead and face whilst I was still combing him. For me that was a special moment.
Are there special moments like that with your furballs?

Re: Special moment

Aww that sounds really cute.

My most special moment with Harry (our ex feral cat) was the first time he came and sat on my lap. I was so shocked I didn't dare move for ages!

Oscar, our newest addition, is so soppy he's full of special moments - he sits on my neck and nuzzles my face and also lays in my arms like a baby, staring into my eyes and patting my face with his paw!!

Re: Special moment

That must have been a lovely moment for you.In the early days with Meeko it was the first time he rubbed his head on my hand without biting it,but I think the "best ever" was when, sitting out in the garden,my semi feral Bumble who would not tolerate human fussing ,actually jumped up on to my lap and purred.I was rooted to the spot,I didnt know if he was going to bite or what was going on.He just sat there ,I think he was equally shocked

Re: Special moment

Can I ask both Chewie39 and buffie or any other owner off feral or semi feral cats, do they now stay in the house or is the outside too tempting still. If they stay inside what did you do to get this to happen?

Re: Special moment

Mitch (my oldest Maine Coon) sometimes lies across my pillow with his paws on my head, like he's performing Reiki on me.

Also if I ever have a hypo (I'm diabetic) during the night and have to go downstairs for a snack all the gang (three coonies and a Border Collie) come with me and all sit with me until I start to feel better. It's like having my own nursing team looking after me.

Mabel - my ex feral - is now indoor only for a variety of reasons - if she hadn't taken to it I was going to have to get her rehomed a long way away for her own safety.

I semi tamed her over a couple years to point I could stroke her as she ate - then snatched her up and into a carrier (very quick and exciting moment! lol) and took her to a cattery for a couple weeks - this was because I was in the middle of moving though.

She has just been indoor ever since and we gave her loads of space - didn't try to force attention on her and gave her loads to do and good food, she's now a fuss monster and sooo content.

Re: Special moment

Bumble lived outside in a heated shed for a few years. He "arrived" one day and just didnt leave. It took a very long time to get him to trust us although he and my Afghan were great pals.It was only when my last house cat died that he was allowed /encouraged to come in the house. He took to it very well although he was never "shut in"there was always an escape route, but he still preferred his shed where he was actually shut in overnight.Eventually we had to try to make him an indoor cat as he had problems with skin cancer and was going to need an op to remove his ear,so outdoor living was no longer going to be possible. So we just didnt let him back out to his shed one night and he was fine with it.Once we were happy that he was relaxed in the house, although at this point he was still allowed out door access during the day, we arranged for the op to go ahead. He was "grounded" for 6 weeks as he needed to wear a collar to stop him getting to the wounds ,that and sleeping on the bed so that we could keep an eye on him,he never ventured out ,apart from to go and sit in the garden.Sadly he is no longer with us he was put to sleep a couple of years after his op as the cancer had spread.

Re: Special moment

The main reason I ask is that some of you probable know about Puss Puss. She is just a year old and has always been an outside semi feral. She liked to come into my house about 4 times a day for her meals (2 main wet meals + some dry meals) but this last month she is reluctant to venture in. When she comes in as soon as she has eaten she wants to leave. She is tame and I am able to comb her and cuddle her on the ground, pick her up plus I go outside and play with her on my lawn. She gets on really well with Shadow inside and outside my house but I cannot understand why she dont want to come inside for long. Is there too many distractions outside at the moment or is it likely to be something else?
I would love to keep her in overnight but not sure about stressing her out and I am hoping when the bad weather arrives she will want to stay, but that seems a long way off
Is there any advice anyone can give me to get her to stay overnight?

Re: Special moment

I can't think of one special moment with Sooty as we had an incredible bond from day one. I can remember all of his special things though, the way he looked at me when he wouldn't look at anybody else, and pretended to ignore me for a day when I went back to visit him in Sweden because I had been gone for a few months

Re: Special moment

Have you tried a feliway difusser, Bestpet Pharmacy - -Feliway Diffuser Plug In it may well help to make her feel more relaxed indoors. If she doesnt want to stay in the house, unortunately, you dont have many choices. You either shut her in over night and take the risk that it doesnt put her off coming in through the day or you let her decide when it is time to become a house cat.Where does she go over night .Does she stay in the little house you have for her or does she wander off somewhere
