My little libby (kitten)13 weeks old tomorrow is eating me out of house and home............. she has 3 sachets a day now and has dried food left out all day and eats the lot, but as soon as my adult cat comes in to eat, Libby pushes the cat away from it's bowl and eats as if her life depends on it........................ I can not leave my adult cat's food out at all now as Libby will just wolf it down... she has even run off with a mouth full of dog food...............................and dog biscuit which is almost as big as her face!!! is this normal..????

She has been wormed by vet!

Kittens grow a lot and should be fed as much as they wish in their first year. Some cats have bigger appetites than others, so think you will just have to accept it!

My two have turned into absolute gannets so be prepared for her to eat even more when she hits the 5/6 months mark

Yesterday my two gobbled a 200g tin of AC, a 370g Bozita tetrapack, a 400g tin of Smilla and another 100g of AC before bed.

You can feed your kitten adult food, no need for the kitten food. It would be even better if the food is good quality, high meat content food

With kittens don't be surprised if they consume 400g of food a day ... even more some days! It's puuurrfectly normal and a good sign of a healthy little one

But I will warn you ... keep the little one away from dog biscuits. Else you will end up with a kitten with tummy troubles and a runny rear end

Sounds about right to me, my lots are eating me out of house and home at the moment too, they're eating about 400-500g each per day.

What are you feeding though? Most cat food available in supermarkets is full of grain and fillees which won't fill your kitten up as much as theu need a lot of protein especially as kittens so you may find she eats less if you switch to a high meat content food.

I did do a lot of research when I had my kitten and tried to get the high meat content foods and tried the lot but she will only eat her kitten whiskers and my adult cat will only eat whiskers oh so fishy,( my cat won a whiskers competition 3 yrs ago and they still send me a pallet supply of food in return of pictures)

Good question!!!! I was wondering the same thing. They have reduced their intake since switching to better quality cat food but are still constantly "on the scrounge". I have to lock my older resident cat in the kitchen when she gets fed so she can eat in peace otherswise the kittens want some of the action and she gets huffy, leaves the bowl and the terrible twosome polish off the lot and poor old Fluffy has only had two mouthfuls .

I wonder if kittens have "growth spurts" like human babies do at certain weeks and then once the "feeding frenzy" is over it subsides.

I lovvvveeee it, they were so small and underweight when i got them seeing them feed their faces and getting bigger and stronger makes my heart melt

I'm waiting for Smila to arrive so should work out cheaper when they go onto tins!!!

The main problem I have is the Old doggy boy Reg 13 year old Jack russell. He has been getting the wasteage (early days a lot now not so much) in 6 weeks he had become ermmmm round I'm expecting him to start meowing any time soon
I'm really hoping he dosnt like Smila
