Had my say at the Vets!

I posted over the weekend as I was a bit miffed at the lack of communication from the vet re Oscar's urine test for possible UTI - Bit Miffed with the Vet

I was not happy yesterday when I found out that, despite being told it was ok for the OH to leave Oscar's sample in the post box on his way to work, the sample remained there all weekend

So, today I spoke with the Practice Manager, explained what had happened and that I was not at all happy. Laid it on that Oscar gets really stressted with any changes ie his litter, and now I would have to put him through this again - I have to say I did use the fact that he is 18 quite a bit

I also said that the receptionists are not very forthcoming with prices and, although I didn't expect an exact costing, a ball park figure must be available. The PM apologise profusely, promised to speak to the Receptionists and said that even if they were not sure of the price, they should "get off their backsides" and go and ask the Head Nurse, a Vet or herself.

The upshot is, they are giving me the special litter and the test for free as a gesture of goodwill.

I feel this is a somewhat small victory for pet owners

Good for you!! I didn't get to reply to your original thread but I did get the impression is wasn't the Vet that was inefficient but the receptionists themselves! Glad you got it resolved.

Well done! Vets do have to survive as a business but that doesn't mean we shouldn't demand a high level of customer service for our money. You've shown others the way.

Well done you!!! You need to put your foot down sometimes. It's not like the NHS you are paying for your cats treatment and you deserve right to good manners and proper treatment!!! Jayne 1 - Vets 0 due to incompetence I'm really pleased you got your victory!

Yeah, definately wasn't miffed with the vet as a person, just as a business. I knew the buck stopped with the Receptionists, especially when the first one I spoke to yesterday morning told me they didn't have a sample for Oscar!

I explained that not every one has pet insurance, but even if they do, they should be letting their clients know a rough costing.
