Anxious cat

Hi,

As I have said in previous posts I am a new cat owner to Tiggles who is 6 yrs old, he had settled in so well, we have had him for 4 weeks and he just seemed so chilled out and at home but over the weekend he has become really anxious with his tail twitching, flinching and he scratched me badly when i scooped him up on Saturday (he's never bothered before) and bit my daughter yesterday. He is normally so sleepy but has been really alert and not relaxed at all the last few days. I have racked my brain for anything that has upset him, my 3 year old gets on his nerves sometimes so I have kept him away from him. I have introduced him to upstairs very slowly keeping him mainly downsstairs at first and this weekend have let him have free run of the house - could this be what has un-nerved him?

Re: Anxious cat

A sudden change in behaviour like this can be due to a medical problem-from what you describe sounds like he could well be in pain to me.

I would take him to the vets and have him checked out. Hope he's better soon.

Re: Anxious cat

I thought it might be that so last night when the kids were in bed he was on my lap and while i was stroking him I felt around him all over and he didn't react so I don't think he is in pain?
