Meet Odin
We collected our 2nd kitten today - a 12 week old pure black boy (still need to confirm he is infact a he).
Even before we had him home we'd decided he fit the name Odin (one of the names we were considering for him). Even though he is only 2 weeks older than our little ginger tabby Oslo, he is more than twice the size.
As we'd only had Oslo a couple of weeks and both were quite young, we decided to see if we could introduce them immediately rather than gradually (although that was plan B). After leaving Odin in the pet carrier for a short time so that he & Oslo could meet with no chance of fur flying, we opened the door.
Odin refused to come out, and gave a few half-hearted hisses & growls whenever Oslo came too close, so after a while I gave up and fed Odin in the carrier (with the door shut again mainly so Oslo wouldn't try to steal his food). Once food was eaten, hubby took Oslo out of the room for a bit, and Odin was out of the carrier in a flash. A while later we bought Oslo back in, and after a bit more hissing and growling from Odin (again half-hearted more than anything) which Oslo just ignored, he realised Oslo was just going to keep following him, so gave up.
They spent part of the evening playing, and when hubby & I dozed on the spare bed, we had 2 kittens between us (although at opposite ends of the bed). All in all, I think introductions have gone well and there is no need to do the slow intro thing.
He's only been here a few hours but already Odin has given us 1 almighty scare - I was in another room when hubby went to the shop & when I came out I couldn't find Odin anywhere (the kittens have access to the spare room & the lounge room atm) - and feared that maybe he had snuck out when hubby went out - even though we have an entry area that we check is clear of cats before opening the outside door, but I was worried none-the-less. After 10 frantic minutes of searching every nook & cranny (with me of course thinking oh my god he's only been here a few hours and we've lost him already) - he wanders out as if nothing was wrong. Thankfully I've now figured out where he was, so that will be the first place I will look for him next time. Oslo, thankfully is easy to figure out - if he's not running around like a cat on crack - he's either snuggled up asleep with me, or asleep behind a box on the table on the other side of the room (he is there so often I put an extra blanket there for him).
Anyways below is the only pic of him I have so far - since I've pretty much left him & Oslo do thier own things while he settles in.
