Question Crying cat

Hi there, new too this page!

I've just got 2 kittens/cats approximately 5 months old, brother & sister.

The boy is very adventurous he'll go out & look around. She will too, but she goes back in after while.

My question is she's 'crying' when she's inside or even when she's out in grass. Does anyone no why this is? She's not crying all the time, just now & again.

Any ideas? Or is this 'normal'?

Thanks any help would be good, just want to know if I should do anything different?

Also how long do I keep them inside before it's safe too let them out alone? I put an extending lead on them & let them out. I've only had them a week.

She is crying to make sure you are near to her and that you are watching her all the time.

Some cats are more vocal than others. It could be a medical reason so take her to the vet to rule that out.

Re: Crying cat

They can go out when they have been jabbed and neutured. If they havent been neutured yet they need to be done urgently. If they havent you must not leave them alone together as they may mate as brother and sister this is a no no.

The crying is due to her being in a strange place make her a little hidey hole for a few days with a litter tray and food she will settle.

Best not to let them out at all untill jabbed as the illnesses they could get could be fatal.

I wouldnt let them out for another few months they are still babies.

Re: Crying cat

Is she actually crying?
Willow makes all sorts of noises! She makes a chirruping noise when she is playing/wanting to play, she meows loudly when she wants to use her litter tray like she is saying 'excuse me, I am just going to the ladies room', she has a different meow when she is saying 'come on mother, wheres me dinner'.
The only time I would say she actually cried is when the vet stuck a needle in her neck, and a cotton bud down her ear - it sounded totally different, really high pitched, weak and pathetic!

Just like when my son was a baby, you can tell the different cries and noises they make with time

Re: Crying cat

Have they been neutered? If not please immediately stop letting them out and get your girl spayed this next week. She could well have sexually matured now. There is a big risk of keeping brother and sister entire when this happens. If she gets pregnant she could die, she is far too young to have kittens.

Also ... even once your kittens have been neutered please do not let them out until they are 10-12 months old at least. Before that age they are too young and too small to defend themselves from other cats and other dangers. If once they reach 10-12 months of age they still seem and behave like kittens it's worth keeping them in longer.

Re: Crying cat

Thanks for all the advice.

I've let them out if the shed. (they ran out before I could shut the door!! But I keep an eye on them). This is where they 'live' I'll get them 'sorted' soon, finances not upto much at moment.

The only problem I might have is them mating, living in the shed together! They are 'safe' from other animals at the moment, as I live on farm, with no other houses near & plenty of space for them too run around.

She's still 'crying', or meowing? But she's ok when I'm stroking her! Is she behaving like a spoilt child? Wanting attention? She's a clean bed & food & water every day! The litter tray is also cleaned every day.

Re: Crying cat

I would say she is in season and calling this can not wait really it is that serious!!!!

Why do they live in the shed? You need to seperate them now and get the girl to the VET ASAP. If money is tight please try the PDSA and explain. If they cannot help contact the Cats protection league to see if they can give you a voucher.

If your girl is calling both your animals are at RISK other males will come to your girl and they are not big enough to look after themselves....

Please Please bring them in NOW

It does not matter that there are no houses around Male cats will come for miles!! also Feral animals dont live in houses!!
