Re: Bit Miffed with the Vet

I've recently changed vets, I posted on here about it as I felt awful because I don't like messing people around but I was concerned about the effort that was put into checking over my 2 rescue kittens, especially since the one had an awfully upset stomach. I went to a new vet (who are part of a chain although all in the same area) and they've been brilliant, my 2 little monsters (one of whom is asleep on my shoulders at the moment) have come along in leaps and bounds and have even had their first jabs now. I totally agree that you should have confidence in your vets, however you have to allow sometimes for the fact that messages don't get through/voice tones are stressed - think about yourself in work, I think we've all been there.

All the best

Re: Bit Miffed with the Vet

My vets are very slick, with posh waiting rooms, a horse and animal hospital and lots of glam receptionists. Kizzi was taken in with tummy pains, kept in 4 nights, had a blood test which cost£70 and they lost it before getting the results. neve had a Operation, was under observations cost me nearly £800.... I'm sure they think they have a excuse to test and drag it out once they know you have insurance. We never did find out exactly what was wrong with her , suspected pancreatis was suggested... she got better after 5 or so days!!! But thank god i had £5 a month pet insurance! Bill paid in full minus £50 excess which was my first vet visit and medicine, i demanded the £70 blood test was deducted from the bill seeing I never got a result, but I had to ask for it, otherwise it would of stayed on the insurance bill.

Re: Bit Miffed with the Vet

My vets has a big equine and large animal centre and I do sometimes wonder whether that is the main focus of the business.

Will call them in the morning and have a word. As long as they have not carried out multiple tests without my say so, we should be ok. On the other hand if they have many of you may hear the shouting from where you are based!

Re: Bit Miffed with the Vet

My vets actually have their price list printed up as flyers and you can take them away with you.

It includes the basics for cats, dogs & rabbits - consultation costs, neutering for male & females, vaccines costs etc.

The cost of the vaccines, £20 for 1st, 2nd & boosters (cats) is also inclusive of the consultation cost.

Price-wise they are very, very good!!!

Re: Bit Miffed with the Vet

You know what MB, I am going to ask when I speak to them tomorrow if they have a price list available for their clients, if not, I will perhaps suggest to them this would be a good idea

Re: Bit Miffed with the Vet

I am absolutely livid

I called the vets this morning to be told they didn't have Oscar's urine sample . I explained that I had spoken to a receptionist during the week about leaving the sample in their post box on my way to work of a morning as I worked fulltime etc etc. The girl said this wasn't a problem and I could call them to pay later.

As it was i became unwell last week, but we dropped the sample off at 7.30am on Saturday morning. The sample bottle was too big to fit in the top of their post box, but it was securely lodged in - in fact it raised the lid of the box!!

They checked this morning and its still there

Then they tried to put the blame on me saying that I should have dropped it in this morning rather than leaving there overnight!!!!! I then explained through gritted teeth that it had been delivered at 7.30AM on Saturday as I was told it was OK to leave it there.

Their reply "oh"

A letter is now winging its way to the Practice Manager

OMG they are incompetent. Is there anyone there you get on with enough to speak to about this explaining that your not comfortable with this and it's just not on. I say this cause i get on well with one of the vets and if there is any problems she will sort it out sometimes!

I'm so sorry your going through this, it's not good enough. How is your little one feeling?
